Social impact
Five initiatives that bring cinema to community, memory, accessibility and audiovisual training.
As part of the impact campaign for Daughters of the Wind, we developed an accessibility guide for venues, meant to become a gradual roadmap for theaters, festivals, universities, museums, film clubs and community spaces to identify barriers and improve the experience for their audiences according to their means. This was accompanied by workshops and participatory experiences to foster audience-building.
For the premiere of 42.195, we created an experience that brought together art, cinema and sport. In collaboration with the Centro Nacional de las Artes, Canal 22 and the Cineteca Nacional, the Carrera de las Artes (Race of the Arts) gathered more than 2,500 participants in a 6km race, after which they could attend the film’s screening, shown simultaneously in every theater of the Cineteca Nacional de las Artes. The race was broadcast live on Canal 22, reaching more than 180,000 viewers, and was accompanied by an arts festival attended by more than 5,000 people over an unforgettable weekend.
After filming the first episode of Echoes of the Earth:Utopia, , we began working with the Committee for the Defense of Indigenous Rights (CODEDI in Spanish) to develop a community cinema on a plot of land in Santa María Xanica. This project is currently in development.
The impact campaign for the episode Memory from Echoes of the Earth includes a podcast built from interviews with more than 70 members of the Hasta Encontrarte collective in Irapuato, Guanajuato. Alongside the podcast, we will create a repository providing access to the full interviews and updates on their search processes. This project is currently in development.
We developed a workshop on audiovisual language for children, to be held at the CODEDI Training Center on Playa Salchi, Oaxaca.

I work in the intersection between filmmaking, teaching and audience development. From Mexico City, I walk with films from development and production through distribution and circulation. I also design impact campaigns and accompany community processes that take stories beyond the screen.

Rafael Muñozcano
I am a filmmaker, teacher and writer. I have produced fiction and documentary films, web series, TV capsules and hybrid experiences that seek to develop audiences, future filmmakers and trainers. I have worked on projects that merge art and activism, along with community organizing processes in different regions of Mexico.

My training and experience in sustainability applied to architecture allow me to integrate a socio-environmental vision into every project, fostering more inclusive and sustainable spaces, experiences and initiatives.
